Wow, I’ve gone and done it again and have not blogged much at all in the last few months. There has been a lot going on and I will certainly be making the effort to get back into the swing of things. For now, I just wanted to share what’s been on my heart today.
Some of you may know that the last few weeks (even months) have been very difficult on us healthwise. Dave has struggled immensely with his sinuses, allergies, ear infections, and coughing. I, on the other hand have struggled with my muscle disease. For 7-8 years, I have not really had much of an issue with it except a bit here and there requiring medication for a day or 2. Within the past 6 months, I have had 2 exacerbations that have required high dose steroids in order to pull me out of it. We have struggled, both physically, and with understanding God’s purpose in all of this especially when it seems to takes us out of the battle at GFA and we have to stay at home.
As I was cleaning the bathrooms in our home, God began showing me so much. For those of you that know me, I’m not a lover of cleaning. Don’t get me wrong, I love a clean home but it’s not like I go looking for cleaning projects to ease my addiction ;). After being down and out for a few weeks and not being able to do much, the bathrooms were, well let’s just say they definitely needed a good scrubbing. As I was scrubbing, God showed me that we all need a good scrubbing from time to time in order to make us shine brighter for Him. I mean, think about it, left undone and not scrubbed, a home gets downright stinky and gross but once you put a little elbow grease and use the proper tools, it transforms it into a beautiful new creation (so to speak ;)). I believe this is what God has been doing in my life. He has been using tools (sicknesses, trials, struggles) to scrub me, clean my impurities, and transform me into something that He can even better use to win the lost and reach the world for Him. That scrubbing downright hurts and it takes a while sometimes but after, we are left clean, spotless, and shining, able to do new and great things as we are drawn closer to God. I’ll be honest, I don’t always like the “scrubbing” – it hurts and is uncomfortable but ultimately coming out on the other side, it’s a blessing to see the gunk washed down the drain and “sparkles” in it’s place. I thank God that He doesn’t leave us where we are, He molds us, shapes us, and cleans and refines us so that we can serve Him and love Him more fully and intimately.
I know this is not probably new to anyone but I love when God really gives something old new meaning for the time you most need it and I pray it encourages you today!!
Hi y’all (yes, we now live in Texas – hehe). We wanted to share a new and neat way for you to get involved on a whole new level with Gospel for Asia. It is awesome. It’s called a MyGFA campaign and it’s a way for you to raise money and share with your family and friends what GFA is doing in Asia!! All you have to do is go here and follow the simple instructions. This is a great way to celebrate your birthday, your spiritual birthday, or just any day. You can raise money for bicycles, chickens, or even a church building. There is no better way to use the resources you, your family, and friends have been given by God to share in bringing others into Heaven.
Have an amazing day in the Lord and we’ll be sharing more with you soon!
Hi to all our precious supporters and friends that still come to this site every once in a a while. I need to first apologize and share that I will be starting to update this site more often. I really wanted to use it as a way to connect with our supporters and unfortunately have let it fall by the wayside. Will you forgive me?
What a blessing it is to be here at GFA and do the work God has called us to do!! We certainly would not be able to do this without the support of all of you!!
Thank you for being a blessing to us! Please continue to follow us on here as we share our lives and the work that God is doing in Asia!!
Please click here to see an amazing answer to prayer. God is so faithful!!
Our God is amazing – do you really believe that? I sure hope so! I could not have fathomed the things that He has orchestrated to bring us to the point of leaving for Texas in one week (for good)! I will share most of the details in our next newsletter but I just want to stop and give God the glory for all He has done. None of this is possible nor good without Him being the center! His love and grace have overwhelmed us more than we could ever express in words. His timing is always perfect! His will is always accomplished! His love for us is truly extravagant!!
I pray that today you may see God in such an amazing new way and seek Him in ALL things for He alone is good!
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
I really need to apologize for not updating this site in a long time. A lot has gone on in the past month and we continue to stand in awe of our Savior. As you all know, Dave has now been in Texas since November 9th. What most of you also know now as well is that we were able to join him in February and have been here in Texas ever since. Praise God for His blessings!!
Now for the even more exciting part to share even though I know a lot of you know this as well (and I will be sharing a whole lot more in our next newsletter), our house is under contract!! So far all has gone well. We have had the inspection and there are a few minor repairs we need to make. Please pray for these minor fixes and that God will just give us wisdom and the right tools and people to get it done. After that comes the appraisal and if that is all good, we will be in the home stretch of closing May 3rd.
God has done some amazing things to continue to keep our family together during this continued time of waiting. WOW, He is awesome!!
We will be heading home to South Carolina on April 14th to spend a few weeks packing up and saying “see ya later’s”, definitely not goodbyes – LOL :). Please keep us in prayer for travels and safety, as well as for God to lead us to the perfect home here in Texas. He is so good and able!!
We continue to thank and praise Him for you all who have given so lovingly to allow us to be used to reach the lost world for Jesus Christ!! You are a true blessing and we love you!!
Ephesians 3:20-21 — Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
